Kubica in front of home in the LOTOS 72nd Rally Poland
Robert Kubica is set to take part in the seventh round of the FIA Rally World Championship, the LOTOS 72nd Rally Poland. It will be the RK World Rally Team driver’s third start in front of his home fans in Mikolajki.
It will also be the Pole’s third go behind he wheel of the latest, 2015-spec Ford Fiesta RS WRC. Having won a total of six stages across the opening three rallies, Kubica focused on reorganising his team in April before scoring his first points of the season in Portugal in May. After a challenging weekend in Sardinia, Robert and his co-driver, Maciek Szczepaniak, can’t wait to tackle one of the fastest and most spectacular events on the WRC calendar in front of their home fans.
The LOTOS 72nd Rally Poland takes the crews to 19 special stages with a total distance of 313km. This year’s itinerary is 90% new, which adds an extra challenge for all the competitors. The event starts on Thursday with a Super Special Stage on the Mikolajki Arena and ends on Sunday with two passes of the Baranowo stage. The second one will form a Power Stage and will be broadcast live on national tv in Poland, on Polsat TV.
Robert Kubica “This year’s Rally Poland will be my third start at Masuria, and a second in the world championship here. It’s one of my favourite rallies because I can drive in front of my home fans. Rally Poland is also one of the oldest on the calendar. It will be a completely new event for all of us though, as the route has been modified. I’m hoping for a fast and consistent rally. As for the expectations, we’d obviously like to claim the best possible result but we also need to find a compromise between a fast pace and scoring points and gathering experience. I’m really looking forward to going to Mikolajki and I’d like to thank all the fans for their support.”
